Still from Halloweentown
The Cromwell family

Halloweentown

This Disney classic (as well as its multiple sequels) hold a special place in my heart. It focuses on the journey of 13-year-old Marnie Cromwell as she discovers her true heritage as a witch and must work with her siblings to save their ancestral home of Halloweentown.

Still from Hocus Pocus
The Sanderson sisters

Hocus Pocus

Another Disney classic, which surprisingly I didn't see until Halloween of 2020. It is hilarious and heart-wrenching as it follows the boring day-to-day of new kid Max Denning. On Halloween night, Max lights a cursed candle and brings three Salem witches back to life. With the help of his little sister, his crush, and an endearing talking cat, Max must save present-day Salem before Halloween is over.

Still from Beetlejuice
Lydia Deetz reading the Handbook

Beetlejuice

Beetlejuice follows the life of Lydia Deetz when her family moves into a haunted house. The spirits of the house want them out, and employ poltergeist Beetlejuice to help them do it. They change their minds about haunting the house when Lydia comes across their 'Handbook for the Recently Deceased' while exploring the attic and forms a friendship with the dead couple. However, Beetlejuice still wants his revenge.
